An unfavourable reply to a request for the proceeds of an art union was received at the executive meeting of the Returned Soldiers’ Association last evening from the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon J. A. Young). Members expressed the view that the reply was considerably different from that given to a deputation which waited on the Minister. It was decided to write to Mr Young again, and that a deputation headed by the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), if he would act, should wait on the Prime Minister (Mr Forbes) when he arrived in Christchurch shortly. .
