GOLF.

The 1934 Championship Meeting. Definite advice has been received by the council of the New Zealand Golf Association from the Christchurch Golf Club that it will not be able to offer its course for the 1934 championships, says the secretary of the council (Mr G. O. Sutton). Other clubs in the South Island which have made application are the Otago Golf Club (Balmaeewan) and the Hagley Golf Club (Russley Jinks), and these will be considered at the February meeting of the council, together with the North Island clubs which have applied. The Shirley course, it is pointed out, will be in very good order in 1934, but the full benefit of the new reticulation scheme will be more apparent in 1935,. and it is probable, therefore, that the 1935 New Zealand championships will be played at Shirley.
