Improvement Reported From Dunedin. (Special to the ••Star.”) DUNEDIN, January 16. An improvement in rate collections by the City Corporation for the year is regarded as one of the indications that the economic tide has at last commenced to turn. Rates struck for the year totalled £247,436. Of that sum £219,113 was collected up to December 31, the amount outstanding being £30,323 or 12.1 per cent of the whole. The amount of outstanding rates in the previous year was equal to 13.9 per cent. The position this year is expected to be further improved by the end of the financial year, March 31.
