Doctors’ Struggle to Save Woman’s Life. STARTLING INCIDENT. LONDON, December 6. Doctors at Battersea General Hospital -were fighting late last night for the life of a woman who was found with a bullet wound at South Western Police Court yesterday afternoon. Police officers, officials, witnesses and spectators were waiting at the court for Mr Sandbach, the magistrate, to take his seat when a revolver shot pierced the murmur of conversation. The policemen dashed towards the ante-room, whence the sound had come. There they found a woman lying on the floor with a wound in her chest. Her mother, with an infant in her arms, was beside her. Two women had fainted. A man was arrested and hurried away to be charged. The shot woman. Miss Ada Isaacs, aged twenty-six, of Wadhurst Road, Battersea, was carried into the probation officer’s room and given first aid by District Nurse Collier, while the police summoned a doctor. When Mr Sandbach entered the court a police official whispered to him. The sitting of the court was suspended. The Charge. Two hours later Mr Sandbach took his seat on the Bench. Only a few officials were present. George Kyprianou. a Cypriot, of Coral Street, Lower Marsh, Lambeth, took his place in the dock. Mr S. C. Terezopoulus, who appeared for the prisoner, said that the prisoner was to appear in an affiliation case, and he asked the magistrate to proceed with that case after the graver charge. Detective Inspector Stanley Worth said that when arrested Kyprianou asked, “Is she dead?” The inspector added:— “ The prisoner was then charged with attempted murder and cautioned. In reply he said: ‘lt was her fault, but I know I do wrong. She took me away from my business and my wife and three children. I forgot my business and couldn’t sleep. It is better that I am finished. All this is brought about because she ask for £10.” Kyprianou was remanded. An operation was performed on Miss Isaacs.
