METHODIST CHURCH.

Progress in Sydenham Circuit. The quarterly meeting of the Sydenham Methodist Circuit was presided over by the Rev Ray Richards. Sympathy was expressed with Mr F. Johns and family in the death of Mrs Johns. Mr Richards reported on the Home Mission Board’s backing for conference for a grant of £ls for Beckenham. Mr S. H. Maddren presented the bal-lance-sheet, which showed a debit of £l9 17s 9d. Miss Wise, foreign mission secretary, reported on foreign mission collections, the amount collected being £47 10s 2d. Votes of thanks were passed to home and foreign mission secretaries for their work during the year. Special services for the quarter are as follows:—Beckenham—Harvest festival, Sunday. March 4; church anniversary. March 25. Sydenham—Harvest festival, March 11. High Street—Harvest festival, March IS. It was decided that the Sunday collections at the Beckenham and Sydenham harvest festivals go to the circuit funds. Miss G. Stephens, secretary of the Sydenham Sunday School, reported that the roll number was the same. The school would reopen on the second Sunday in February. Orphanage Sunday had been very successful, a number of gifts being brought. An address had :ilso been given by Mrs H. J. Odell, of Wellington. Mr W. Kent reported that the Beckenham Sunday School was very satisfactory.
