BODY RECOVERED.

Victim of North Beach Tragedy.

The body of Mr Henry James Freeman, who was drowned at North Beach on Thursday evening, was recovered from the surf at New Brighton at 10.30 o’clock this morning. A boy named Box, fourteen years of age, who was swimming in shallow water a short distance to the north of the pier, noticed the body in the surf and informed some people on the beach. Two members of the New Brighton Surf Club, Messrs J. Pickett and E. Aynsley, then went out and brought it ashore. Subsequently the body was removed by the police to the morgue at Christchurch.

Mr Freeman was twenty-nine years of age, and was employed as an advertising agent for the National Tobacco Company. He had been spending a holiday in Christchurch. His parents reside in Wellington. An inquest will' be held to-night.
