ASHBURTON CRICKET.
(Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, January 15. A win by seven wickets on the first inning’s was obtained by Ashburton B in the match against Ashburton A, played on the Domain oval. Ashburton A made 90 (G. I. Miller 31, J. Pritchard 15 and T. Hanley 11). The B team replied with 330 for the loss of four wickets, the principal contributors being J. B. Nicoll 76, A. „A* Todd 24 and F. Fogarty 12. Bowling for Ashburton B, B. M’Sherry took five wickets for 22 runs and A. A. Todd three for 15, while for the unsuccessful team G. I. Miller took one for 4 and R. Tulloch one for 9. Junior Grade. Kia Ora defeated a weak team from the High School by ten wickets. Kia Ora made 100 in their first innings and 4 for no -wickets in their second innings. High School made only 12 in their first innings, but they did better in their second knock to score 89. Bowling for High School, H. Jordan took three for 15 runs and R. Fear three for 35. F.or Kia Ora, Lennon four for 4, J. Dillon two for 7, and N. Phelan four for 29. Technical defeated Lauriston, on the Technical ground. Lauriston declared in their first innings with 59 runs for five wickets. Their second innings produced 4 4 runs for four tyickets, when a declaration was again made. Technical in their first innings made 77 runs for four wickets (declared) and 31 for no -wickets in their second innings. Bowling for Technical, M. Moore took three for 11 and one for 4; E. Stigley three for 21. For Lauriston, H. Adams, one for 8. Third Grade. Technical drew with Kia Ora. Technical made 161 and Ivia Ora 82 for no wickets. Bowling for Kia Ora, V. Stills four for 24, P. T. Willis three for 54. For Technical, V. Niven, two for 6.
