AIR MAIL INQUIRY.
Government Ignored Low Bids. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received January 12, 2.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, January 11. A series of independent air line operators paraded before the Senate Investigation Committee to-day. One estimated that the Government had lost about 1,670.000 dollars through ignoring low bids. He contended that he could have supplied an equivalent service. All were inclined to criticise the alleged dictatorial manner in which Mr Brown, former Postmaster-General, had handled the matter. Mr Brown states that he would welcome a chance to refute the charges before the committee. He denied that he had destroyed anything but his personal files. Yesterday’s message stating that Colonel Lindbergh received 250,000,000 dollars in stock was incorrect. The figure should have read 250,000 dollars.
