SYDNEY. December IS. There were bullets to the left of him, : bullets to the right of him, bullets all j round him—and he sat there and laughed. Only a kookaburra could have seen a joke in it. Above the noise of the staccato barks of hundreds of rifles at the Anzac Rifle 1 Range, was heard the loud and hearty laugh of a kookaburra that sat cn top ; of one of the target number boards. | Five minutes he stayed there, and | then flew- away into the quietness cf ] the bush, still laughing at the marks- , men.
