SAN FRANCISCO, December IG. | Edward Roberts, who had been \ Mayer of Reno (Nevada) for the past | ten years, and who was regarded as ! one of the most picturesque characters j in the Western State, died to-day. He was the ruler of Nevada’s tar- ' famed divorce Mecca. He viewed Prohibition as a joke and ; declared that a better temperance mea- , sure would be to place a barrel of ; whisky at every street corner with a ; dipper and a sign “ Help yourself, but I don’t be a hog.”
