BOOKINGS LIGHTER.
Railway Traffic Eases Off To-day. Railway bookings were lighter to-clav owing to the unsettled state of the weather. The expresses carried only ordinary traffic, although yesterday they were well filled for the south and the West Coast. Yesterday 2500 people travelled to Lyttelton, and 746 to Ashburton for the summer trotting meeting. On Sunday three excursion trains will be run to Timaru to coincide with the arrival of a train from Dunedin, 1 allowing friends from the two centres to meet at a central point. The trains ; leave Christchurch at 7.50 a.m., S a.m.. and 9.10 a.m. The Dunedin train reaches Timaru at 11.50 a.m., returning at 4.55 p.m.
