Man Who Designed Fastest Locomotive. LONDON, December 15. Mr J. G. Churchward, who, as Chief Mechanical Engineer of the Great Western Railway Co., designed the City of Truro express engine, which exceeded 102 miles an hour and is the fastest locomotive ever built, was run down by the Fishguard Express.
