The Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting was opened at Ellerslie to-day in fine but overcast weather before an attendance of 27,000, an increase of 1500 compared with last year. The totalisator handled £69,215, as against £62,522, an increase of £6693. The track was in excellent order. Double-figure dividends were returned in the Queen’s Plate, the second division of the Robinson Handicap, the Auckland Cup and the Christmas Handicap.
