Aim of the American Government. LONDON, December 24. The “ Sunday Express ” saxs that the American Government is seeking to dump CO.OOO tons of butter into Britain in return for an additional quota of whisky. The proposal, the “ Express ” says, is sure to arouse the hostility of Australia and New Zealand and cause dismay among British farmers. Decline in Prices. MELBOURNE. December 2.5 A cablegram has bien sent during the week-end to the principal distributors of butter in London on behalf of Australian butter exporters expressing disappointment at the further decline in butter prices, despite the withholding of exports from Australia and New Zealand. It expresses the opinion that action should, he taken by the distributors of dominion butter to stabilise the market at about 75s per cwt and also to ensure that the quantity now selling should be maintained, even though prices are ruinously low. Shippers here have communicated with New Zealand inviting co-opera tion on similar lines.
