He received a knock on Monday, and did not gallop yesterday. Silver Jest was second and Proscenium fourth in the Okains Trial. The former subsequently made no show in the (‘.J.C. Seymour Handicap. Imperial Spear. who has not raced this season, showed promise earlier in the year. At his last start he was SeCond to Errantry over six furlongs at Ashburton. Delice was second in the Lagmhor Plate, five furlongs, at Ashburton on December 2. Moonbeam and Silver Foil made show in that event. The form of Bell Hill, Grampian, Marquillo, Miss Purau and Norman Conquest does not recommend them. Ashley Handicap last month, Sky Lass.‘ who had three unplaced runs early ill 3 the season, and High Rank. The last»‘ named had four races at, Riccarton‘ last month. She was fifth in the ADprentiCes’, one mile, fourth in the Middleton, nine furlongs, third in the Oaks. and eighth in the Suburban, one mile. Bowlands and Bright Red were} unplaced in the Lagmhor Plate at Ash-i burton, where Vintage was second (t 0 Davolo) in the \Vinchmore Highweight, six furlongs. with 99. A number of very promising novices will contest the Glendore Handicap. Happi made friends bv his effort in third place in a similar race at New Brighton on Saturday last, and Argolis and Golden Dollar have been acting like future winners. Emmeline's Last has improved under J. J. Kennerley, and Silvia Sydney and Lone Derby have been shaping well in their work. It is a verv open race, and at the finish Argolis, Lone Derby and Happi may race well. 3 p.m.

Manetho was second in the \Vakanui with 8.1. He is also engaged in the Cup. Silver Ring has not raced since August. He was a failure last season. but has been galloping in good style recently. Shatter is still working well. He has been expensive to his followers this season. After win‘ning the Stewards’ with 7.2, Silver lStreak with 8.5 in the Criterion failed decisively in the wet on Derby day. He was fourth with 8.1 in the Memlbers‘ on the final day and now meets Hurlingham, who won that race, 13113 better. Cranford was receiving Zlb lwhcn he was second to Silver Streak in the CJC. Paul Drusus 84 Argolis is engaged in both the Glendore and the Snowdon Handicaps. In the latter. Attorney is likely to be supported. Full Hand is on the improve, so is Eddystone. It is more than likely that Full Hand, Attorney and Prince de Oro will invest the proceedings with interest.

Doiran and Miss Nightraid are referred to under the Sandown and Eupator under the Iligh-weight. Davolo won the High-weight, six furlongs, at Ashburton in brilliant style. The only good race that Elude has run recently was in the rain on Derby day, when he won the Middleton Handicap, nine furlongs. Heather Glow has not been racing well. High Tor was unplaced in the C.J.C. Ashley and Seymour Handicaps. She shaped fairly in the former. Silver Sight has not raced .since August. Grand Review was not in the first eight when Davolo won at Ashburton. Sibella, who also made no show in that race, was seventh in the C.J.C. Randolph, seven furlongs. Water Polo was fifth in the C.J.C. Otaio Plate, one mile and a quarter. Skv Rover, sixth in that event, showed a lot of promise. Cleaner was fourth in the C.J.C. Seymour, seven furlongs, and ran well for about that distance in the Moreton Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Ashburton, where Silver Brier was sixth in the Lagmhor Plate. Bright Shade made no show in the C.J.C. Apprentices’ Handicap and was seventh in the Oaks. The optimistically named Pleasant Memory has not yet raced. Davolo, Sky Rover and High Tor (or Doiran) are likely to have admirers.
