PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mrs F. Willes, Warwick House, is staying with her brother. Sir Heaton Rhodes, at Otahuna, Tai Tapu. Mrs A. Leslie Macfarlane, Fendalton. will leave for Wellington this week to visit relatives. Mr and Mrs J. W. Fair, Timarn, will arrive in Christchurch to-day, and will stay at Warwick House. Mrs Maitland Rich, who has been on holidav, has returned to Warwick House. Mrs T. L. Cowlishaw and Miss Joan Lee are spending a few days at Hanmer Springs. Mrs Baigent, Dunedin, is staying with her sister, Mrs Arthur Thomson, Montreal Street. Miss Roie de Pass, Papanui, who has been staying in North Canterbury, has returned home. Lady Sidey, Dunedin, who has been spending a few days in Christchurch following a visit to Wellington, left for the south to-day. Mrs William Cunningham, Papanui Road, will leave this week to stay with her daughter, Mrs Angus M’Donald, “ The Plains,” Lumsden. Dr and Mrs J. F. Duncan, Rossall Street, have left for Wellington to attend the breaking-up ceremonies of Woodford House, Havelock North. Mrs H. Thompson and Mrs Wells are due to leave Panama this week by the Mataroa, en route for New Zealand, and expect to arrive on January 4. Major and Mrs Ivan Jennings and family, who arrived from Wellington recently, are living in Garden Road, Fendalton. Miss Phyllis Acton-Adams, Clarence Reserve, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday, and is staving with relatives. Miss Lois Douglas, Invercargill, has arrived in-Christchurch from the North Island and is the guest of Miss Mary Menzies, Victoria Street. Mrs R. B. Bennett, Gore Bay, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs R. 11. Livingstone, Weston Road, has returned home. Miss Dorothy Talbot, Winchester Street, who has been spending a holiday in South Canterbury, returned home last week. Miss L. D. Allen. Bealey Avenue, left on Saturday for Dunedin, where she is visiting her parents, Sir James and Lady Allen.

Miss Dorothy Walton, who has been the guest of Miss Margaret Clark, Bealey Avenue, has returned to her home in Timaru. Mr and Mrs Russell Laidlaw, Oaro, will arrive in town to-day on a visit to Mrs Laidlaw's parents, Dr and Mrs F. G. Gibson, Papanui Road.

Miss D. Watkin Williams, Honiton, England, and Miss R. Wynn-Williams, Cashmere Hills, are visiting Mr W. H. Montgomery and Miss H. Montgomery, Wairewa, Little River. Lady Sinclair-Lockhart, of MacMurray Road, Remuera, has returned to Auckland from Nelson, where she was the guest of her daughter, Mrs Raleigh Grace.

Mr and Mrs A. H. Robins, Invercargill, will arrive in Christchurch next Thursday to spend the summer holidays with Mrs T. Robins, New Brighton.

Miss A. B. Foreman, who has been on a trip to Great Britain and Canada, has returned to Christchurch and is staying with her brother, Mr D. M. Foreman, Fendalton. Mrs Ashley Dean, Methven, who is leaving earfy next year to live in England, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday. She is the guest of Mrs Foreman, Fendalton. Mrs Richard Allen, the Mill House, Fendalton, and her granddaughter, Miss Juliette Heygate, will leave for England by the Mataroa on February 6. Mrs Allen will join her daughter, Miss Diana Allen, who left for England early this year. Miss Katrine Loughnan, Christchurch, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs Patrick Jennings, at Dunrobin, Southland, spent Thursday night in Invercargill with Mrs F. St J. Loughnan, Gala Street, and returned home by Friday’s express.

It is intended that on Sunday next, at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, a memorial brass tablet will be unveiled to the late Miss E. J. Park, who was for sixty years a member of the congregation and for nearly fifty years a teacher in the Sunday School. I tribute to the faithful service of Miss Park was paid by the Rev J. Lawson Robinson during the evening service at St Andrew’s Church yesterday.
