Ranking Match. H. A. Barnett, second on the Canterbury ranking' list, staved off a challenge at Wilding Park last night from W. R. j Robinson, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. Barnett, who is | notoriously slow at regaining his form lat the beginning of a season, could do [nothing on the forehand in the first set, in which Robinson’s forehand was working aggressively. He took the second game, but lost five in a row. He resorted to very accurate lobbihg in the second set, in which he lost only the fourth game. In the final set he led 5-1? and then had two match points, but Robinson crept up to 4-5, fighting all the way. Barnett had four match points before he clinched the match.
