FREE KINDERGARTENS.
Close of Successful Year Reported. < FINANCES SATISFACTORY. The December meeting of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association took place on Thursday in the Y.M.C.A. rooms, when Mrs H. Thacker presided. Members present were: Mesdames Hadfleld, Dunbier, Retallick, Aitken, Rodda, Lester, Peverill, Reeby, Williamson, Robinson, Hitchcock, Bundy, Stuart, and Misses Hull, M’lllraith, Gordon and the secretary. It had been arranged to hold a Christmas party at each of the kindergartens next week. At New Brighton the little ones had been busy making small gifts for their parents. Thanks to the co-operation of local committees with the teachers’ and parents groups, the year, though uphill, had been a happy one. Mrs K. Hadfield, honorary treasurer, reported that the nnancial year would close satisfactorily. . was a«o to the recognition of the 2r IS 1 ?!" 8 the wor,< - The public, Mrs iiadheld said, had been especially good to kindergartens this year. Mrs Thacker ii° . spoke of the loyal support given by au the committees, teachers and the public. Miss Hull, principal of the kindergartens, reported that several students were sitting for examinations at prefab was very hopeful that all would be successful in gaining their kindergarten certificates. Sunreported that parents' efforts for the year added £43 16s to the funds.
