ANNIVERSARY SERVICES
The an ni versa rv services in connection with the Lin wood Baptist Sundav School were held recently, one of the features being the singing of a childrens choir of nearly 200 voices, trained by Mr W. Bradshaw. The church was packed for both afternoon and evening services. The morning service was taken by Mr XV. Lambert, who gave an illustrated address. The children of file primary grade, who had been trained bv Mrs H. T. Falla, were largely responsible for the afternoon service. The Hev L. A. Day. of Opawa, gave an address. The evening service was conducted by the Rev X. R. Wood. The Scripture readings for the day were given by Master Ronald Weallenn and Misses Eileen Falla ami Raynor Carter. Solos were sung by Brian Marston. Ray Falla. Mary Baton. Audrey Beck. Shirley Rush bridge. Eula Jones. Marjorie Madams. Oarol Taylor. Douglas Jorv Beverley Jones and Xancv Smith A duet was given hv Misses Xgaire Harris and Heather Finlayson. The celebrations were continued with a tea for the scholars, followed bv a concert, at which the children were presented with their prizes. At the annual meeting of the Sundav School teachers, the Rev X. R. Wood presided. The annual report, presented by the secretary, Miss Egan. showed the roll number to be 238. In addition, there were 3!» children on the cradle toll. An endeavour had been made to utilise the day school vacation for religious instruction, and a grant of £2 had been received from the Canterbury » oung People’s Committee in recognilion of the effort. A warm tribute was paid to the superintendent. Mr H. F I-alia, for his work. The financial report, presented by the treasurer. Mr F Pyne. showed a small credit balance During the year contribution to Foreign Missions had been increased The ele.-tion of officers resulted: Superintendent. Mr H. T. Falla; secretary Miss Egan; treasurer. Miss Adeia .Nuttall: cradle roll superintendent, Mrs D J. Falla: leader of Young Ladies’ Bible Class. Mrs W. Marsden; leader of Young Men’s Class. Mr W. Marsden: pianist, Miss L. Wykes. It was reported that the net proceeds of the •• Olde English Fair ” were slightly over £S2.
