NEGLIGENCE LAW.
Motorists Are Opposed to Change. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 4 The changes in the law regarding negligence in connection with motor accidents, recommended by the Public Petitions Committee in a report presented to the House of Representatives last month, were viewed with serious concern by the executive of the Wellington Automobile Club at the monthly meeting. It was decided to refer the question to the North Island Motor Union, with a view to its taking urgent action in opposition to any alteration in the present law and also seeking the co-operation of the South Island Union. The chairman, Mr E. A. Batt, observed that the proposals would throw the whole liability on the motorist and none on the pedestrian. The motorist might be responsible for only 1 per cent of negligence and yet would have to suffer the whole responsibility of proving himself not guilty.
