Houses on the cliff edge at Pakefield, Suffolk, were threatened with demolition recently when a landslide, caused by heavy seas, carried great masses of cliff into the sea. Occupants of cottages, whose hack gardens disappeared before their eyes, prepared for the worst. The photograph shows furniture being removed from the houses. The remains of garden fences and sheds which were damaged can also be seen.
