Objections to the use of the word “ ferry ” in reference to the interisland service were expressed by Mr H. Lightband, of Christchurch, when he spoke at the tourist traffic conference at Mount Cook. “ The term ‘ ferry * should be wiped out,” he said. “It creates a misunderstanding and acts as a deterrent to a great many people who would otherwise come south. I consider that the inter-island service is one of the finest in the world for its purpose.”
