TWO MEN MISSING.
Sailing Boat Found on Rocks. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 1. A double drowning tragedy is feared following the finding near Orewa beach of a wrecked fourteen-foot sailing boat and the body of a small dog. There is no trace of the owners of the boat, two brothers, Thomas Stuart Scott, seventy-three, retired chief engineer, of Epsom, and Robert John Scott, seventy, retired master mariner, of Panmure. The men, accompanied by the dog, left Mahurangi on Saturday, November 25, for Auckland, but until the end of last week little apprehension was felt for their safety. The boat was found on the rocks on Tuesday last. The Warkworth police were notified, but owing to rough seas the boat could not be approached until Thursday. The body of the dog was found on Orewa beach some days previously. Residents of Mahurangi and relatives of the two men are to make a search of the coast and neighbouring islands to-morrow. Jt is thought the boat must have capsized shortly after the commencement of the vo\'age. There was a fresh north-east breeze blowing at the time Both Thomas Scott and Robert Scott were born at Mahurangi, and are sons of the late Captain Thomas Scott, formerly in the service of the Northern Company. Both men spent the greater part of their lives at sea. Thomas Scott was for many years an engineer on Union Company boats. He was chief engineer on the Moeraki and then on the Marama. Robert Scott was until the time of his retirement a few years ago in the service of the Northern Company, and served on several of the company’s vessels.
