SWIMMING SEASON.

Two Lyttelton Clubs Hold Openings. Two Lyttelton swimming clubs, the Lyttelton Men’s Club and the Lyttelton Ladies’ Club, opened their seasons at Corsair Bay on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of members of both clubs and of the public. Tn declaring the season open the Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester) spoke of the progress made by both clubs. lie said the fostering of swimming was beneficial t.o the whole community. Races were held and resulted as follows: Women’s races—2syds handicap: Miss Betty Weastell 1, Miss Mavis Gilrav 2, Miss A. Madden 3. 50yds handicap: Miss R. Madden 1. Miss Mavis Gill ay 2, Miss R. Morris 3. Men’s events —50yds handicap: C. Toy 1, A. Torrens 2, P. Reardon 3. L. Coombs. W. M. Miller. J. Childs and W. Bet hell also started. Dive: W. Bethell 1.
