Arbitration Court Gives Judgment. Totally dependant bpon their father, a wharf labourer, who was accidentally killed in the course of his work, two minors, Hardie Sylmer Wilson and Nance Leah Wilson, claimed £940 11s 6d from the Union Steam Shib Company in the Arbitration Court to-day, before Mr Justice Frazer. With the judge were Messrs W. C. Prime (employers' assessor) and A. L. Monteith (employees’ assessor). Mr M. J. Gresson appeared for plaintiffs and Mr Wright for defendant company. The claim set out that plaintiffs were the children of John Lee Wilson, formerly a waterside worker, of Lyttelton, now deceased. On August 15, 1933, John Lee Wilson, while working in the employ of the defendant company on the s.s. Waikawa, met with an accident which caused his death. He had been earning £4 8s a week at the time of his death, and plaintiffs had been wholly dependent on him. Plaintiffs claimed compensation at £915 4s, funeral expenses £2l 17s 6d, and hospital expenses £3 10s, a total of £940 11s 6d Mr Gresson said that both cfTidrcn were dependent upon their father. The facts were admitted. After evidenc as to dependency had been given, the Court gave judgment for the full amount, plus costs.
