Mrs R. Hugonin, Kaikoura, accompanied by her sister, Miss Bullen, is visiting Christchurch. Miss G. Rawson, Christchurch, is the guest of Mr and Mrs S. L. Smart, Francis Street, Blenheim. Miss Doris Pluck, Kaikoura, is visiting her sister, Mrs F. Burgoyne, Christchurch.

Miss Joyce Stanton, Melbourne, who has been visiting Christchurch, left for the north last evening en route to Australia.

Pigeon, Gore, who has been spending a holiday in Wellington, Christchurch and Timaru, has returned home.
Miss Alice Chapman, the well-known Christchurch soprano, will arrive in Wellington by the Marama on Tuesday after studying three years at the Melba Conservatorium, Melbourne.
Mr and Mrs Irving Sladen have let their residence, Hill Crest, Cashmere Hills for a term to Mr E. M. Hunt, of Wellington, and until their departure for England early in the New Year are staying at their house at New Brighton.
Nurse C. Gardiner, Gloucester Street, Linwood, will leave for Auckland on December 14 to attend the wedding of her son, Mr Horace W. Gardiner to Miss Phyllis Myers. She will stay with her daughter, Mrs A. J. Andrews, Mount Albert. Nurse Maude gratefully acknow-
ledges donation from “New Plymouth,” clothing from “G.M.8.”, “A Friend,” “E.M.H.,” “A Tai Tapu Friend” and a quilt from “The oldest branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ U nion.”
Appreciation of the valuable services of Mrs B. E. H. Whitcombe in her capacity as honorary secretary of the P.N.E.U. was expressed by the president, Mrs Norton Francis, at the annual meeting of the P.N.E.U. last night, and her resignation was accepted with regret. Mrs D. M. Opie took her seat for the first time last evening at the meeting of the Board of Governors of the Technical College. Mrs Opie, who was elected parents’ representative in place of Mrs M. I. Ball, resigned, will remain a member of the board until August, 1934. Mrs Opi. was welcomed by the chairman of the board (Mr M’Gregor Wright). She briefly returned thanks, and agreed to accept the committee positions that Mrs Ball had held.
