A NEW BOARD.
Surprise Expressed at Formation. FENDALTON PARK PLAN. Surprise that another local body should be set up, to* control the new Fendalton Park, was expressed by the chairman, Mr J. Liggins, at a meeting of the-Waimairi County Council last night. Mr C. E. Cross had submitted a report on the public meeting held recently, at which it was decided to establish a park and set up a domain board to control it. “In these days, when local body amalgamation is all the talk, it is surprising that a dpmain board should be set up to control this park,” said Mr Liggins. “ This council could quite easily be declared a board for administration purposes and the saving in cost would be considerable.” Mr Cross said that in all probability the Government would ask the council to place two or three representatives on the board. Mr F. S. Scott said that the council should protest that the management of the domain should be under the control of the council. Mr G. G. Gardner intimated that he had lodged notice of motion to empower the council to take steps to assume control of all parks and reserves within the county boundaries. Finally, jt wag decided to arrange a conference between the council and the members of the proposed board.
