Cash Club’s Evening Meeting. The Canterbury Cash Athletic Club held a meeting at the Hospital Corner last evening. Large fields contested the events and close finishes were witnessed by a large attendance. The 220yds race was won by W. Costello, who ran with good judgment. (7. Baker ran a heady race, to win the 880yds. Results: 220vds—First heat: W. Costello 1, T. Wei Ism ore 2. D. Flanagan 3. Second heat: E. Collins 1. C. Baker 2. L. Doherty 3. Final: Costello 1, Wellsmore 2, Flanagan 3. The field got away to a perfect start. Costello stayed on well to beat Wellsmore by two feet. Flanagan was a yard away third. 880yds—C. Baker 1, R. F. M’Kenzie 2,''R. Todd 3. Reese led for the first lap. M’Kenzie then took the lead and led into the straight. Baker came fast in the straight to win by two yards. Todd was three yards away.
