FIRE IN PLUMBER’S SHOP.

Damage to the extent of £l5O was done to the premises of Mr G. Stening, plumber, at the corner of Cashel Street and Cambridge Terrace, next the King Edward Barracks, by an outbreak of fire last evening. The fire, which was discovered shortly before seven o’clock, originated in the office by an open grate, where it is thought that old papers were left smouldering. Mr Stening stated that there had been no fire in the grate for some time, but it was possible that papers had been burnt. Mr Stening’s office records were destroyed and the office and his private room will have to be rebuilt. The premises of Neil Bros., motor engineers, next door were not affected, and the centre of the fire was too far from the Barracks to occasion any alarm in that direction.
