Cases Heard in Supreme Court. WIFE'S PETITION WITHDRAWN. Two undefended divorce cases were i heard in the Supreme Court before Mr Justice Ostler to-day. Annie Elizabeth M’Bride Young) petitioned for divorce from David M’Bride, a railway employee Oamaru, on the grounds of separation by agreement. In a cross-petition the husband asked for divorce on th< grounds of desertion. The husband gave evidence that th( marriage took place in Rangiora i> 191 S. and that the separation took place in Oamaru on February 6, 1930 His wife left him without cause, and did not return. There was one chib of the marriage. The wife's petition was withdrawn A decree nisi was granted with in terim custody of the child to the wife Had Disagreements. William Cashmere, taxi driver. Christchurch, (Mr A. C. Cottrell' petitioned for divorce from Edith Ellen Cashmere (Mr Watts) on the ground.of agreement to separate. Petitioner said that the marriage took place in 1909. There were three children. He and his wife had disagreements, and in 1927 entered into an agreement to separate. The agree ment had remained in force since then A decree nisi was granted. Custody of Children. In a divorce action in which the petitioner was Leonard Robert Clarke, motorman, Christchurch, and the respondent was Pearl Irene Clarke, ar application was heard for permanent alimony and custody of two children Mr Lascelles appeared for petitioner and Mr Quigley for respondent. His Honour said that it was not the usual thing for the custody of children to be given to a guilty wife. The interests of the children were the paramount consideration. In this case, in the interests of tKe children, the father should have custody of them. He would make an order accordingly, and would order that the husband pay 15s a week maintenance for the wife.
