The ’Flu Amongst Cats.

EPIDEMIC of influenza which has been observable in Auckland during the past three months manifested itself recently in an unexpected quarter. Cellars and warehouses in the city, the homes of many cats kept on the staff for ratdestruction purposes, have had a ’flu visitation, and quite a number of caretakers in the business areas have the company of sick and coughing cats on their hands. Small dogs in many homes, too, have fallen under the spell of the sickness, which, while not virulent, is very distressing to the animals. Persons charged with the care of the city’s health are, of course, concerned about the effect resulting from the animals acting as carriers of the complaint.
