A NEW BRIDGE.

Structure to Span North Branch of Waimakariri. The contract was recently let for the construction of a concrete bridge on the road between the Waimakariri bridge and Rangiora, to Mr W. A. Smart. The structure, which is to replace the existing girder bridge across the north branch of the Waimakariri River, will be a single-span one, 300 ft in length and 24ft wide. The contractor cast the concrete piles about four weeks ago, and should be ready to commence piledriving at an early date. It will be possible for traffic to use the old structure until such time as the new bridge is completed. The construction of the approaches to the new bridge will be undertaken by the Eyre County Council.
