FRENCH SILK INDUSTRY.

The Lyons silk industry is greatly concerned at the strained economic relations with Britain, as a quarter of France’s total silk production each year is sold in Britain, the value of the exports being £5,000,000. The proposed British surtax will result in the closing down of factories and increased unemployment.
