BLUE MOUNTAIN WINS BIG EVENT.

Silver de Oro Beaten by Favourite at Forbury Park.

ROYAL DRUSUS FILLS THIRD PLACE.

STAVING off a stout challenge by Silver tie Oro, Blue Mountain won the big event at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting to-day—the Forbury Handicap. Blue Mountain was favourite on both machines. Silver de Oro was fourth favourite on the win machine and second fancy on the place machine. Royal Drusus filled third place. Grey Girl scored in the Empire Handicap, from Wild Guy and Lillian Bond, while Marie Celeste put up a good performance to win the Brighton Handicap from Gunmetal and Ruth Logan. Todd Lonzia failed in a further attempt to lower his own mile record for the course. He broke four times.

The weather for the concluding day of the club’s meeting was beautifulh* fine. There was a large attendance of the public and the track was in splendid order. NOTES FROM THE COURSE. (Special to the “ Star.”) DUNEDIN, November 25. For the Suburban Handicap, Triangle was sent out a very hot favourite. He began well, but at the end of half a furlong he met with serious interference that put him out of court completely. Gaynor led past the stand from Wahnooka, Orphan Bingen, Bingen Lin. Margaret Parrish and Nelson’s Lady. When a round had been completed, Bingen Lin and Nelson’s Lady had dropped back. At this stage Orphan Bingen had taken charge, being closely followed by Gaynor, Wahnooka and Margaret Parrish. There was no change until turning for home, where Wahnooka ran into second place and Gaynor began to tire. In the run home Orphan Bingen finished too well for his opponents and won by a length - and a half from Wahnooka, who beat Margaret Parrish by two lengths. Bon Haven, Earl Bingen and Sansaveno broke up at the start. Triangle was favourite with £270 10s and £202; Orphan Bingen carried £6O and £l2B 10s; Wahnooka carried £146 10s and £188; and Margaret Parrish £BS 10s and £l3l 10s. Advance Handicap. In the Advance Handicap, when the field settled down, Summit was in charge from Beverley King, Carillon Chimes, Almont Cling, Great Antrim, Agile, Lord Wrack and Yankeeland. Going along the back, Beverley King went to the front, but on reaching the straight he broke. Summit then took charge, with Great Antrim, Jimmy de Oro, Almont Cling. Agile, Lord Wrack and Yankeeland in close attendance. Going to the far bend. Great Antrim went to the front with Summit, Jimmy de Oro. Agile and Lord Wrack following closely. Once into the straight, .Summit came away to win by half a length from Agile with Jimmy de Oro a length and a half away third. Summit was favourite with £177 10s and £213; Agile carried £62 and £94 10s; 0 and Jimmy de Oro £l2l and £163 10s. Empire Handicap. In the Empire Handicap Lillian Bond led for two furlongs from Grey Girl. Peter Locanda, Red Spur and King’s Cup. Passing the stand, Grey Girl was in charge from Lillian Bond. Peter Locanda and Red Spur. Two furlongs from heme, Wild Guy moved into third place, but Grey Girl was still in front at the entrance to the straight and came home to beat Wild Guy by half a length, with Lillian Bond a length away third. Wild Guy was favourite with £364 and £245. Grey Girl was entrusted with £B3 and £164, and Lillian Bond with £277 10s and £254. Brighton Handicap. In the Brighton Handicap, Derbyvale fell at the start, and bumped General Wrack who was a very hot favourite. He took no part in the race. Marie Celeste led all the way to win easily from Gunmetal and Ruth Logan, who were favourably placed throughout the journey. Desert Maiden made a fast run to take first place at the far turn the last time, but she was well beaten at the finish. General Wrack carried £390 10s and £287; Marie Celeste £172 and £204 10s; Gunmetal £92 10s and £132 10s and Ruth Logan £97 10s and £145 10s. Guy Junior and Lord Lupin broke up at the start.

Forbury Handicap. In the Forbury Handicap Royal Drusus got tangled at the start, and Roddy and Great Logan made a break. Wilma Dillon led past the stand from Avernus, Blue Mountain, Royal Drusus, Grand Canyon, John Noble and Silver de Oro. The field raced in that order for a mile and five furlongs, where Silver de Oro dashed up on the outside of the field to take second place. Wilma Dillon broke at the mile and threequarters post and left Silver de Oro in charge. He was first into the straight, with Blue Mountain and Royal Drusus in hot pursuit. In the run home Blue Mountain won nicely by a good length from Silver de Oro, who beat Royal Drusus by a similar margin. Blue Mountain was favourite with £422 10s and £345 10s. Silver de Oro carried £252 10s and £283 10s, and Royal Drusus £276 and £248. Victoria Handicap. In the Victoria Handicap Orphan Bingen broke at the start. When three furlongs had been covered, Modern Girl took charge from Amonos, Fairyland and Don Chenault. There was little change until going down the back; for the last time, when Don Chenault ran up to Modern Girl. He was first into the straight, being closely followed by Fairyland £157 and £173, and Amonos In the run home Don Chenault finished on a break and beat Fairyland by a length. Amonos was two lengths further away third. Modern Girl was favourite with £3OO and £324. Don Chenault carried £260 10s and £253, Fairyland £157 and ££l73, and Amonos £234 and £230 10s. Placicgs Altered. A meeting of the stewards was held regarding Don Chenault galloping in the Victoria Handicap. After hearing evidence it was decided to place Fairyland first and Don Chenault second. Tainui Handicap. Young Frank led all the way in the Tainui Handicap to win comfortably by two lengths from Lillian Bond, who beat Prairie King by three lengths. Young Frank was closely attended by Special Sun and Lillian Bond all the way. Prairie King \nade a good effort over the last half-mile to beat Special Sun for third money. Young Frank was a hot favourite with £465 and £273 10s. Lillian Bond carried £219 and £194. Recovery Handicap. In the Recovery Handicap, Grand Canyon and Manoeuvre made the early running, but on reaching the home turn Gunfire and Muriel de Oro ran through. Half-way up the straight Manoeuvre came away to win nicely from Gunfire and Muriel de Oro. Muriel de Oro was favourite with £530 and £389 10s. Manoeuvre was entrusted with £350 and £274, and Gunfire with £132 10s and £175. TOTALISATOR RETURNS. The total investments for the meeting amounted to £35,204 10s, against £31,926 for the corresponding meeting last year. RECORD ATTEMPTED. Todd Lonzia Fails to Set New Figures. In a special attempt on his own trotters’ record of 2min 11 l-ssec for a mile, at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting to-day, Todd Lonzia took 2min 12 3-ssec, failing to break the record by 1 2-ssec. He made four breaks during the attempt.
