NOT UNPARDONABLE

Offenders Against Cycling Control. DECISIONS OF COUNCIL. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 25. Steps were taken at a special meeting of the Cycling Council with a view to settling the dispute over the control of amateur cycling. There was a full representation at the meeting from affiliated cycling centres, the delegates consisting of Messrs H. D. Bennett (Auckland), C. W. M’Conchie (Canterbury). G. S. Leeder (West Coast-North Island), G. H. Harrison (Wellington), and F. N. Robinson (Otago). The chairman. Mr Bennett, said he felt that the main source of the trouble was a feeling that cyclists had that cycling was too much under the dominance of the N.Z.A.AA. officials. The N.Z.A.A.A. apparently thought so too, with the result that the three members on the Cycling Council had relinquished office. Extracts were read from reports showing that the Cycling Council was recognised by the Cycling Federation as the controlling body of amateur cycling. The council decided to carry on, and to seek the co-operation and friendship of amateur athletic bodies. It also decided that in a general way the council should not regard previous offenders against its control as unpardonable. Another resolution passed was that all cycling centres should deal direct with the Cycling Council in future.
