A message from Warm Springs states that in a move that is believed to be the precursor to recognition cf President San Martin’s Cuban regime. President Roosevelt announced that the Assistant Secretary of State, Mr J. Caffery, would shortly succeed Mr T. H. Wells as Ambassador to Cuba.
A bronze plaque has been unveiled on Cowes Parade to commemorate the sailing from Cowes 300 years ago of two small ships carrying Leonard Calvert, son of the first Lord Baltimore, and his expedition to America, where they founded the State of Maryland.
