HORNBY-ISLINGTON.
New Group of Women’s Institutes. Eighteen members from the Hornby Women’s Institute attended the group meeting convened by Mrs W. Deans, president of the North Canterbury Federation, held at Prebbleton, on Tuesday afternoon. As a result of a ballot Mrs B. Kissell, of Templeton, was elected to the office of group convener. Other branches of the group present were Templeton, Ladbrooks, Lincoln and Prebbleton. Social at Islington. The popular weekly social conducted by the Welfare Committee in the Islington Hall on Wednesday evenings was a decided success this week, the card room being filled to capacity. Some enjoyable games were played, resulting in Mrs Morrison and Mrs V. Parker Winning the prizes and Mr R. Sloan and Mrs Oldridge (Templeton) securing the consolation prizes. At the conclusion of the games supper was served by the lady members, of the committee.
