Committee Receives Reports. ACTIVITIES OF TIIE MONTH. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children (the Plunket Society) was held in the Piunket rooms. Present—Mesdames J. Cracroft Wilson (In the chair), A. F. Wright, H. “Wales, F. J. Delamain. H. Marks, W. H. Cowper. E. J. Cordner, P. Greenwood, O. T. J. Aipers. D. E. Wanklyn, C. M. O-llivier, A. Banks, E. Harris. H. R. Smith, H. M’lntosh, F. Wilding, A. B. Jones, E. J. Cooke. A. M’Killop, W. Johnston, C. Chilton, A. R. Bloxam, G. Lucas, W. O. Rennie, T. C. M’Lachlan, p. M. Wood, A. W. Heaven, W. J. Sheat. L. J. Parnham and M. H. Godby and Miss Haughton. Mrs Delamain, president of the Marshland Sub-branch, reported that her committee had collected a donation of eggs for the Karitane Hospital. The branch was now busy organising a children’s party, to be held at the Bottle Lake reserve on December 2. Visitors were invited to bring gifts of toys, new or used, for little children living in the country In poor circumstances. The resignation of Nurse E. M’Clea was accepted with regret, and appreciation of her many years of service on the staff was expressed. For the Karitane Baby Hospital, the matron reported eleven babies admitted, twelve discharged and fourteen in the hospital. Three mothers had been admitted to the mothers’ cottage, five discharged, and one was in residence.

For the office. Nurse Allan reported ninety new cases, and 513 visits to homes by the Plunket nurses. Visits paid to the rooms In the central and suburban areas were as follows:—233B adults, 1989 babies.

In the pre-natal section, the nurse saw eighteen new cases. 143 return visits were paid and six casual visits. A total of 119 cases were under observation. In the pre-school section, Nurse Borrows saw twenty-five new cases, and at the central rooms 134 children were seen. Children under supervision totalled 1421.

At the New- Brighton, Sumner-Red-cliffs districts. Nurse Aitken reported fifteen new cases. Visits paid to the rooms were as follows:—New Brighton —149 adults, 135 babies and 4 older children. Sumner—39 adults, 33 babies and 3 older children. RedclifCs—l6 adults. 15 babies and 3 older children. For the country districts. Nurse Ho reported as follows:—151 adults, 142 babies. 31 pre-school children, 45 home visits and 11 new cases. Extra visits were also paid to Upper Riccarton, Russley Road, Islington, Hornby, Prebbleton, Ladbrooks, Ellesmere, Burnham and Killinchy.
