PERSONAL ITEMS.

Lady Allen, who arrived in Christchurch from Wellington yesterdays, is staying with her daughter, Miss D. Allen, Shepreth Cottage. Bealey Avenue. Miss Rona Allen and Mr C. R. Allen, who also arrived yesterday, have gone to stay with Miss Hilda Montgomery, Little River. They expect ,to return to Dunedin with Lady Allen on Saturday. Miss Hazel Evans is the guest of Mrs J. G. Hawkins, St Martins. Mrs W. J. Hunter, Cashmere Hills, is the guest of Lady Gray, Wellington. Miss Phyllis Riddiford arrived from Wellington yesterday and is the guest of Mrs Edgar Stead, Ham, Riccarton. Mrs W. H. Meddings, Montreal Street North, has returned from a visit to Mrs F. R. H. Gardiner, Purau.

Mr and Mrs A. Keith Hadfield have gone to reside at their seaside house at New Brighton. Miss Dorothy Cameron, Glen-iti, who has been visiting Christchurch, has returned home.

Miss M. Colman, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs F. C. Lewis, Renall Street, Masterton.

Mrs Percival Smith and Miss Hill, Auckland, are spending a holiday in Christchurch and Dunedin with friends, and expect to return for Christmas. Miss Wright, Timaru, has returned from a visit to Christchurch, where she was the guest of Mrs G. B. Bullock. Mr and Mrs FI. Gibson, Blenheim, who have been visiting their daughters, Mrs W. George and Mrs L. Jacques, Christchurch, have returned home. Mrs L. Neal accompanied them. Mrs M’Rae Peacock and Miss Berrie M’Rae Peacock, Knowles Street, will return this week from Sydney, where they have been spending several months’ holiday. Mr and Mrs Henri Piat, Paris, have taken Mr and Mrs A. Keith Hadfield’s residence, Te Wharekoa, Banks Avenue, during their lengthy stay in Christchurch Miss K. M’Kay, who received her hospital training in the North Island, has been engaged as matron of the hospital at the Chatham Islands, according to a communication from the lady superintendent of the Christchurch Hospital (Miss Rose Muir), received by the North Canterbury Hospital Board today. The superintendent of the Christchurch Hospital (Miss Rose Muir) reported at to-day’s meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board that Nurses R. M. Slyfield, E. Parkerson and M. Dickie, having completed their contract with the board, were leaving to take their maternity train-, ing. Sister D. Menzies, who has been a member of the North Canterbury Flospital Board’s nursing staff since 1925, has been appointed to the matronship of the Waikato Hospital. The board conveyed to Miss Menzies congratulations on her appointment, and an expression of thanks is to be sent to her for the services she has rendered during her period with the board.
