Final Work-outs at Addington. MOUNTAIN DELL PLEASES. A large number of spectators were present at Addington this morning to see the final trials of several horses engaged at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting, which will take place on Tuesday. Thursday and Friday of next week. The weather was perfect, and the track was in splendid order, following a liberal application of water overnight, and a course of harrowing which it received during the very early hours of the morning. Several New Zealand Trotting Cup candidates were present, and while all worked to the satisfaction of their trainers. Mountain Dell’s performance made her many friends for the big race. Red Shadow showed that he is in fine form, and Harold Logan bounced along in his best style. Worthy Queen was first out, and, trotting evenly all the way, she covered a mile and a half in 3min 25 l-6sec. War Paint, going the reverse way, and assisted by a galloping pacemaker, was sent a mile and a half, which she did nicely in Grain 20 l-ssec. She paced the last mile in 2min 12 4*ssec, the last half-mile in lmin 6sec, and the last two furlongs in 32 2-ssec. From a good flying start Prairie King went a mile and three-quarters. The first half-mile took lmin ssec. the mile 2min 16sec. mile and a half, 3rain 26sec, and the full distance 4min. Brent Zolock’s Idle and Quarter. Going alone and from a fair start, Brent Zolock went a mile and a quarter, covering the first quarter in 31 4-ssee, the half-mile in lmin 2 2-ssec, and six furlongs in lmin 36sec. He got to the mile in 2min S 2-ssec, and the full distance in 2min 41 2-ssec. He came home his last half-mile in lmin ssee, and the last quarter in 30 4-ssec. Nelson’s Victory went his last mile, wide out, in 2min 11 3-ssec. Going alone, and from a good moving start. Mountain Deli left on a two-mile journey, covering the first two furlongs In 32sec; she was at the half-mile in lmin 5 2-ssec, and did the round in lmin 39 2-ssec. She passed the mile station in 2min 121-ssec, and, still keeping the pace on, she left the mile and a quarter behind in 2mln 4 ssec. The mile and a half was travelled in Smln 18 2-ssec. She reached the mile and three-quarters disc in 3min 51 sec, and. finishing very well, she completed the full distance in 4min 23 3-ssec. She ran the last mile in 2min 11 2-ssec. the last half-mile in lmin 5 l-ssec, and the last quarter in 32 3-ssec. Muriel de Oro had Chef as a mate over a mile and a half run in 3min 22 3-ssee. Fret Advice's Great “Oo Going away slightly in front of Royal Again, Wrecker led out over a mile and a half, with Free Advice giving Wrecker 3 2-ssec. The first half-mile occupied lmin 7sec, and the mile 2mtn 14 2-ssec. Royal Again raced up and joined Wrecker going along the back straight, and they were on terms at the mile and a quarter post in 2min 47sec. Once in a line for home, Free Advice dashed up between the leading pair, and in a splendid finish they were almost on terms at the winning post. Wrecker did 3min 18 2-ssec, Royal Again 3min 17 4-ssec, and Free Advice 3min 15sec. The last mile was done in 2min 11 2-ssec, last half in lmin 4sec, and the last quarter of a mile in 31 2-ssee. Free Advice finished In great style and did the best mile and a half trial of the morning. Assisted by Brentlight over the first mile and a quarter, Wrackler broke away on a two-mile errand. With the first half covered in lmin 9sec, Colorado picked them up, but after leading for a little way he started to fall back, and was pulled up when he had gone a mile. Wrackler, who went alone over the last half-mile, covered the two miles in 4min 33sec, the last mile being done in 2min 16sec. and the last halfmile in lmin 5 4-ssec. Guy Junior and Avernus were companions over a mile and a half. Golden Direct going away with them. Guy Junior, who had the inside running, covered the first half-mile in lmin < 2-o sec, mile in 2min 13 2-ssec. and he completed his task in ?min 3 9 2-osec. Avernus was not knocked about over the closing stages, and went 3min 20 3-ssec. He did his last mile in 2min 12see, arid his last half-mile in lmin 5 4-ssec. •Harold Logan. Apex acted as pacemaker for Harold Hogan, and went away several lengths in front of his companion in a dash over a mile and a quarter. Going the first half in lmin 4 2-ssec, Harold Logan was pacing in great style, and was at the mile post in 2min 8 3-ssec. He was now well in front of Apex. Finishing on in good style, he reached the wire in 2min 4L 3-ssec. Kelp went away two lengths in front of Royal Drusus, with Arethusa conceding Kelp 3 2-ssec in a dash over a mile and a half. Arethusa made up her leeway quickly, and with the halfmile disposed of in lmin 9sec, two lengths each way separated them. The mile was covered in 2min 18 4-ssec. Finishing on fast, Arethusa was a neck in front at the mile and a quarter disc, reached in 2min 50sec, and always having the measure of her opponents in the run home she beat Royal Drusus by a neck, with Kelp two lengths away. Arethusa went 3min ISsec and Royal Drusus did 3min 20 l-ssee. Bracken covered a mile and a half. The first half-mile was done in lmin 9sec, the mile in 2min 17sec, and the full journey in 3mln 24sec. She was not close in. Cannonball was kept on the extreme outside of the track while being worked over a mile and a quarter. Bed Shadow’s Brilliancy. In a bout over a mile and a half, Ayrinont Chimes went away 3 4-ssec in front of Red Shadow. The first halfmile was covered in lmin 10 4-ssec. At this stage Ayrmont Chimes was four lengths in front of his colleague, but with the round left behind in lmin 43 2-ssec, fully six lengths separated them. Ayrmont Chimes still had charge at the mile station, reached in 2min 18 2-ssec, but going along the back stretch Red Shadow unwound a phenomenal burst of speed. He passed Ayrmont Chimes before reaching the mile and a quarter disc, and went on to complete his assignment in 3min 15 4-ssec, cutting out his last mile in 2inin 7sec, and his last four furlongs in 59sec. A greut performance. Rey Spec paced the last mile of a mile and a half essay in 2min 11 2-ssec. Stanley Bingen trotted faultlessly while negotiating a mile and a half In 3min 22 3-6 sec, taking 2min 17 2-ssec to cover his first mile. Kewpie’s Guy was associated with Silver de Oro and Belinda in a serviceable effort over one mile and a half, which she accomplished in 3min 24 2-ssec, after taking 2mln 20sec to compass her first mile. Silver de Oro did Smfn 25 2-ssec, and Belinda went 3min 26sec.
