RELIEF OF DISTRESS.
Allocation of Art Union Money. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 3. The following allocations for the relief of distress throughout the Dominion from the Happy Moments art union, which closed on October 21, were announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs:— A distribution on a pro rata basis of unemployed registration, as at the latest date available, to localities showing registrations totalling fifty or more, £2500.
Women’s National Reserve Residential nursery, Wellington, £SOO. Prisoners’ Aid Society, Auckland (Rev G. E. Moreton), £3OO. West Coast Competitions Society (in reduction of liabilities), £2OO. Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society (in reduction of liabilities), ,£IOOO. Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Association (in reduction of liabilities), - £IOOO. t The Association of New Zealand Art , Societies (to provide a travelling scholarship), £3OO. Aorangi Ski Club (to liquidate f debts) incurred in the erection of the e chalet on Tasman Glacier), £SOO. - Wanganui Development League (for the youths’ afforestation camp established by the league for unemployed
youths between the ages of sixteen and twenty), £230. Waimate Horticultural, Agricultural and Industrial Society (to liquidate debt on a hall), £4OO. Bucklands Beach Domain Board (to liquidate advances made by local residents to meet the board’s debts), £325. Greenmeadows Progressive Association (to liquidate a bank overdraft), [ £4OO. Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Rangiora, to assist in ' liquidating liabilities), £SOO. Total, £8175.
