BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY.

Mrs J. H. Hall presided at a meeting of the committee of the Christ church branch of the Ladies’ Guild of the British Sailors’ Society. Others present were: Mesdames H. T. J. Thacker, J. S. Thomson, S. R. Webb, J. G. L. Vernon Heathcote Gray J. Grigg. G. Hanmer, J. B. Beckett, H. L. Bowker, W. F. Tait and G. W. C. Smithson, Misses M Cotterili and M. C. Fryer. Mrs J. S. Thomson reported four visits made to the hospital, where six stamen had been visited. The financial statement presented by Mrs Smithson showed a balance in hand of £6 13s So. The total receipts from the bridge piyty had amounted to £l6 18s. Final arrangements were made for a tennis tournament to be held on the United courts on November 24. when it is hoped that a large number of players and onlookers will be present.
