November 3 A plan whereby youth will supply the necessities of life, while older persons play, or work for the luxuries has elicited the interest of Mrs Roosevelt and the Secretary of Labour, MF'S Perkins. Seventy -one-year-old Mrs Prestonia Martin, wife of a college professor, sponsored the plan whereby all the able-bodied youth of both sexes from the ages of IS years to 26 years would be conscripted into a class of “ commons,” who wil] grow and process food and run the nation’s transportation and basic industries. After reaching the age of 26 years, the commoner becomes a member of the “ capital ” class and necessaries are then provided for him. but he rrmst work for luxuries such as automobiles, furs, caviar, etc. Mrs Roosevelt said: “This is a really interesting new suggestion ” Miss Perkins said: “The theories arc interesting, but highly debatable.”
