JUBILEE REUNION.
(TEACHERS AND PUPILS. METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL The jubilee of the Kaiapoi Methodist Sunday School was celebrated on Thursday evening by a reunion of teachers and scholars held in the schoolroom Which was taxed to its utmost to accommodate the large attendance. The Lev O. Burnet presided, others on the platform being Messrs A. D. Hassall. h. Thorne, T. J. Burnet, J. H. Blackwell, L. B. Evans, J. H. Kettley, W. Lmtott and Miss S. K. Evans, secretary of the Organising Committee. . r * *l. e vhatrman welcomed the past teachers and old scholars. I “and- f,T tUd H in Kai « Poi in . and found many happy and contented people who welcomed him with Referring to the building of the Sunday School, he stated that a committee was formed in 1882 and a tender of £627 for erecting the bi/ilding was accepted, the school being opened !L JHr \M ary ’ 1883 - He paid tribute to the colleagues of his time the late Messrs (~ H. Blackwell. Richard Evans, T. Ward and G. Ellen. Barly Bays Recalled. Mr A. D. Hassall (Christchurch) in .speaking of the old days, said his connection with the Sunday School had haH llllen H ed . S i Xt /' flvt years ago and he had graduated from a scholar to superintendent of the school. He recalled splendid service rendered by those men and women who had held responsible positions in the school and extended good wishes to all those present Air J. H. Blackwell, an ex-superin-tendent of tlie Sunday School, expressed pleasure in addressing such a largo gathering. He referred to the great work in the Sunday School carried out th ® la ‘ e Mr Richard Kvans and the late Mr Leo. Weston, who was one of the staunchest friends and supporters of the school. Messrs L. Ellen (Christchurch), Mrs Clair Johnston (Ox(V?L M n S {> Bel ? er anrt Ml " s E - Thorne (Kaiapoi), Messrs J. H. Biaekwel], It. Blakeley, C. Bennett and L. B. Evans The anthem “Praise ye the Lord” was also sung by a cboir of past and present members of the church under the eadership of Air A. Bfakeley, followed l *y “Timartr” composed bv Air R. Blakeley. Mrs 11. Corry (Sefton) was accompanist. Anniversary Concert. a " niv ersary concert of the Kaiapoi Brethodist Sunday School was given by the school children in the schoolroom on Wednesday evening and attracted a large and appreciative audience. The children trained bv Mr O a , pr ? Rramme of action and several playettes which were staged with great success.
