LINCOLN COLLEGE.
VISIT OF INSPECTION. BANKS PENINSULA FARMEBS. On Tuesday a party of eighty-five members of the Peninsula branch of the Farmers’ Union, paid a visit to Lincoln College. They were met by the Director, Professor Alexander and his staff and were shown round the farm, special attention being paid to the wheat research plots and the cultivation cf rye-grass, cocksfoot and clover The sheep, cattle and pigs were also inspected. Short lectures were given by members of the staff on the different activities of the College Board. Luncheon and afternoon tea were served in the College Hall. At the conclusion. Mr F. G. Armstrong, president of the Peninsula branch, voiced the thanks of the party for a pleasant and instructive visit. Professor Alexander in reply, said he was pleased with the interest shown by the visitors and he hoped that they would pay another St Peter’s Anglican Church. A meeting of the vestry of St Peter’s Anglican Church was held at the Vicarage on Wednesday. Present the Rev H. Nelson Wright (chairman), Mr W. H. Taylor, Miss Jacobson. Messrs A. M. Helps, F. C. Newton, Riches and J. E. Armstrong. A tender of £2B for painting the church was accepted and it was decided to have the work put in hand at once. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Basil Ferris for his good work in collecting funds and also to the Young People’s Club, which had also worked hard for the same object. The vicar reported that he had interviewed Messrs Bradley Brothers regarding having the north window in the church fitted with stained glass | similar to the other windows and the j firm would give an estimate. It was decided to ask the Parochial Association to assist in having the work carried out. Accounts amounting to £22 los were passed for payment. Beach Sports Association. The annual meeting of the Takamatua Beach Sports Association was held in the school room. Mr T. Masefield presided over a large attendance. The report stated that the meeting held last *ear had been very successful and the balance-sheet showed a credit of £6B 10s Bd. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr E. X. LeLievre; president, Mr T. Masefield; vice-presi-dent, Mr F. G. Armstrong; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr W. E. M. Jacobson,: starters, Messrs T. Masefield and W. Moore: judges. Messrs James Mackay, J. Waller, A. My Moore and F G. Aldridge; handicappers, Messrs W. H. Priest, 11. J. Moore and F. R. Rich; car marshal, Mr W. H. Taylor, clerk of course, Mr J. Cairns. The programme was adopted. It was decided to make the usual application to the New Zealand Trotting Association for a permit to hold trotting races. The date of the next meeting was left to the General Committee to decide.
