SENT TO PRISON.
Counterfeiter Caught in Dunedin. (.'RIME INCREASING. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, October 26 In the Supreme Court, Mr Justice Kennedy sentenced Robert Stanley M’Aualand, 37 years of age. a married man with seven children, found guilty of making counterfeit coins, to reformative detention for two years and six months. The Crown stated that there was a marked tendency for this crime in Otago and a large number of silver coins had been circulated. The police had over 100 in their possession, apparently made from 28 different moulds. Other Cases. William Palmer Foley, 50 years of age, for breaking and entering and the theft of jewellery valued at £IOO, was sentenced to fifteen months’ reformative detention. Ernest Robert William Pledger, for breaking, entering and perjury, was sentenced to six months’ reformative detention. James Watson M Ivor. for the theft of a motor-cycle, was sentenced to seven months’ hard labour: and Ernest William Walter Haggett, for receiving stolen bicycles, to six months’ hard labour.
