QUEEN CARNIVAL.

Successful Concert Held for Mrs V. C. Peters.

A successful concert, which reflected great credit upon the organiser, Miss Nancy Hume, was held in the Jellicoe Hall last evening to augment the funds for the Y.M.C.A. Ladies’ Auxiliary Q*ueen (Mrs V. C. Peters). That all numbers were much appreciated was shown by the hearty applause and the audience insisting on the reappearance of all performers. The stage was artistically set out with palms and feathery maple and maidenhair ferns, with a large golden bowl filled with autumn-tinted and maroon antirrhinums. A deep blue bowl held Iceland poppies in all shades. Miss Hume, who was also accompanist, was In a frock of spotted rose-pink net over taffetas; Miss Joyce Wilkinson, saxe ele-phant-skin crepe; Miss Belle Renaut (Mrs Leslie Aitken), black satin with deep bodice, yoke and sleeves in cape effect of cream net appliqued in a floral design. All received bouquets. The programme was as follows: —Instrumental trio, intermezzo from “l’Arlissiene Suite” (Bizet), Miss N. Hume and Messrs E. J. Hume and W. S. Elsom; song “One Fine Day” (Puccini), Miss Joyce Wilkinson; recitation, Mr Robert Malcolm; character duo, “School Days,” Miss June and Master Shepherd; song (instrumental trio accompaniment), “On Wings of Song” (Mendelssohn), Miss Belle Renaut; violin solo, “Spanish Dance” (Sarasate), Mr W. S. Elsom: songs, (a) “The Glory of the Sea,” (b)

“The Old Bard's Song,” Mr J. L. Tennent; operatic dance. Miss Audrey M’Nish; vocal duet, “Love’s Beginning,” Miss J. Wilkinson and Mr J. L. Tennent; instrumental trio, “Three Fours" (Coleridge Taylor), Miss N. Hume, Messrs E. J. Hume and W. S. Elsom; songs, (a) “The Pipes of Pan,” (b) “Two Roses,” Miss Joyce Wilkinson; song (instrumental trio accompaniment), “Droop Not, Young Lover” (Handel), Mr J. L.
