LIVED TO AGE OF 102.

Per Preas Association. HAWERA, October 4. The death has occurred of a pioneer settler, Mr George Rogers, at the age of 102 years. Bom at Maidstone, Kent, he followed agricultural occupations from the age of seven. He voyaged to New Zealand in the ship Stadt Haarlem in 1880, settling in the Hawera district, where he engaged in farming till 1916, when he retired following his wife’s death. His remarkably good health was maintained till the last. Until recently he was able to attend to his garden and read a newspaper without glasses, and was enjoying a pipe a short time before, four days agct. he lapsed into a coma, from which he failed to recover. There are four surviving members of his family of ten.
