WIRELESS.

Notes and News From Far and Near. By “AERIAL". The local Radio Department is always ready and willing to assist listeners to obtain perfect reception free from interference. I had occasion to seek the department’s aid in this direction, and the interference was cleared in twentyfour hours. The simplest way for homebuilders to avoid trouble is to mount a torch bulb in a holder and run two wires from it. By applying these to the filament terminals before the valves are inserted in the new set, any trouble from high tension becoming mixed with the filament leads is readily detected. The torch bulb simply blows out on such a fault. When you wind coils for your homemade short-waver, see that the two windings go in the same direction. Otherwise you will wonder why the set won’t work. Listeners who go in for seeking longdistance stations are well advised to secure an up-to-date list. If you know when and where to look for a station, you can often track it down even when conditions are not very good.
