SIR C. KINGSFORD SMITH.

Ready for Hop-off To-day for Australia. (Received October 4, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, October 3. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith left Heston for Lympne aerodrome in readiness for his flight to Australia at dawn to-morrow. Special tanks have been fitted to Sir Charles’s new monoplane, “ Miss Southern Cross,” giving it a cruising range of about 1800 miles. Sir Charles says he is not out to break records, but just wishes to reach Australia as quickly as posible.
